Christmas and Advent @ Holy Trinity

The Advent Story
For the season of Advent our altar is dressed in purple.
We display the Advent wreath, the nativity scene and the pascal candle.

On the four Sundays before Christmas Day (at our Sunday morning Eucharist service at 9.30am) we light a candle on our Advent wreath.
  • Sunday 27 November the candle of Hope is lit.  (purple candle)
  • Sunday 4 December the candle of Peace is lit.   (purple candle)
  • Sunday 11 December the candle of Joy is lit.      (pink candle)
  • Sunday 18 December the candle of Love is lit.    (purple candle)
The Christmas Story
After sunset on Christmas Eve the altar is dressed in white.
We decorate the sanctuary with extra candles as we await our evening
Eucharist Service.

On the 24th of December at 9.45pm we sing carols by candle light in our church.  At 10.00pm we begin our evening Eucharist.  We start with the lighting of the last candle in the Advent wreath, the white candle, the Christ Candle.
 .
When the sermon finishes we ring the church bells and the baby Jesus is placed into the nativity scene.
Our service continues with prayers and communion.

 .
Our service concludes around 11.00pm.  We meet in our lounge for a time of fellowship, Christmas cake,
a glass of port, tea or coffee.

 .
Christmas Day 9.30am, a family service of celebration and Eucharist.

This year (2022) we are joining with All Saints Church cnr of Dee Street and Holywood Terrace.
